AI-Powered CX Start-Up Wings Hires Former Starbucks SVP as Executive Advisor

Wings, a start-up company that develops autonomous businesses, has announced that Jim McDermet will join the company as its new Executive Advisor.

McDermet, a Starbucks veteran, will assist the executive team in the expansion of the company’s professional network and advise its strategies and operations.

“My entire professional career has been influenced by the two complementary conditions of eliminating non-value-added work wherever possible while helping to create meaningful work that fills people’s soul,” McDermet said in a press release.

The founders of the Wings have been working in software, hardware, AI, industrial and robotics engineering for more than 40 years. They are using their expertise to build a self-organized system called HiveRobotics, which will automate the delivery of orders in different types of businesses.

McDermet has experience in services and strategic initiatives. As Senior Vice President at Starbucks, he brought in revenue increases to the company, improved customer interaction, and decreased staff turnover. Earlier in his career, he initiated new concept restaurant formats to expand Burger King’s brand into fields where customers work, shop or have fun.

“Aside from his extensive intellectual capacities, Jim has always maintained a people-first mindset since the beginning of his career, aligning with Wing’s core mission and continuing with us for a more sustainable and hopeful future,” said Haitham AI-Beik, Co-founder & CEO of Wings.
