Boingo To Work with Amazon To Speed Up Digital Transformation at US Airports and Stadiums

Boingo, the telecommunications company, announced on August 16 that it will work with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide advanced network services at U.S. airports, stadiums, manufacturing, healthcare facilities, and other large enterprises.

Boingo incorporates AWS edge and cloud services into its DAS, Wi-Fi and private network deployments. Not only this addition will enable venues to provide touchless services, but also ensures secure connectivity.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is one of the first airports to experience this digital transformation process. To provide touchless experiences, the airport added a virtual customer service center that requires an advanced wireless network to ensure communication between staff and passengers through a live video kiosk. Building on DAS and Wi-Fi network at ORD, Boingo remodeled it to a cloud-based private network for the kiosk within days. The new network met the bandwidth requirement and was equipped with AWS to ensure the secure distribution of data.

“Boingo is pioneering what’s next in converged connectivity and AWS’ unmatched portfolio of cloud capabilities will allow them to take their network operations to the next level and more easily establish private networks in airports and other public spaces,” said Bill Vass, vice president of engineering at Amazon Web Services, Inc, in a press release. “Working together, Boingo and AWS are making it simple for venue customers to quickly bring secure connectivity and innovative data services to any location with proven performance and scalability.”
